Los Gatos, Calif.-The San José State beach volleyball team recorded its seventh victory of the season on Thursday with a 4-1 win over Santa Clara at Los Gatos High School.
Julia Golbeck and Kaitlynn Zdroik started the Spartan team off on their winning ways, needing three sets to defeat the Broncos, 21-15, 12-21, 15-7. Giulia Gávio and Luiza Andrade won next in straight sets, 21-14, 21-10. Summer Avery and Jamie Hirai then clinched the win with a 21-18, 21-16 win over the Bronco pair.
Allison Meehan and Lyndi Scholl the played three hard-fought sets in their eighth win of the season â€" 18-21, 21-19, 16-14. Nandyala Gama and Julie Sam also played a hard-fought, three-set match before losing, 19-21, 21-19, 15-7.
San José State is now 7-8 on the season. The Spartans play their final two duals of 2017 this Saturday in Folsom, Calif., as they play Cal Poly at 10 a.m., and Sacramento State at 1 p.m.
