As part of the Junior Spartans program, San Jose State Athletics and Kaiser Permanente have teamed up to provide the 30 In - 30 Out Program to local elementary schools. This program challenges students to live a healthier lifestyle through physical fitness and higher education. The 30 In - 30 Out Program encourages students to spend at least 30 minutes indoors studying, and 30 minutes outdoors playing everyday. Participating students will see the opportunities that can come from living these healthy lifestyles by connecting them to San Jose State University and its student athletes.
The indoor portion of this program encourages students to participate in reading, writing, and arithmetic challenges throughout the school year. When students complete a challenge, they earn a ticket to a designated Spartan sporting event for themselves and a friend. If they complete all three assignments, they get to go to all three designated sporting events! Better yet, if your school participates, we'll send Sammy and some of the San Jose State Spartans out to visit your kids and help them with the challenges! Click here to sign your child or classroom up for the challenge!
Every school that participates in the challenge will have the opportunity for a school visit from Sammy the Spartan and his fellow student-athletes. During these one hour visits, student-athletes will begin with an assembly where they talk about their path to college, and the importance of studying hard. Following the assembly, everyone will head outside to do some warm up stretches and drills just like the Spartans would at practice! Click here to sign your child or classroom up for the challenge!
