Women's Water Polo Closes Out Regular Season

The San Jose State University women's water polo team closes out Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and regular season action with conference contests Friday, April 21, and Saturday, April 22.

The #16-ranked Spartans (9-16, 0-4 MPSF) host #22-CSU Bakersfield (12-14, 0-5 MPSF) on April 21 at West Valley College starting at 1:00 p.m. San Jose State's final home match will be Senior Day. Seniors from both teams will be recognized. San Jose State's seniors are goalkeeper Sara Northam and field players Vanessa Elgohary, Donia Momen and co-captain Cara Robinson.

San Jose State seeks to end a three-match losing streak, all to conference opponents ranked in the top-five nationally.

CSU Bakersfield, also, is in the midst of as three-match losing streak. The Roadrunners last played on April 11 losing 6-5 at San Diego State.

The Spartans' final regular season contest is at Stanford the next day with a 1:00 p.m. start time. The Cardinal (17-2, 4-1 MPSF) is in a second-place tie in the conference standings and can earn a share of the MPSF championship with a win and a UCLA loss to USC.

San Jose State and Stanford are meeting for the second time this season. The Cardinal posted a 17-1 win in the LouStrong Invitational to open the season for both teams.
