Three seniors, each with at least 100 college victories, play their final regular season home match Saturday, April 22, when San Jose State University hosts San Diego State University in a Mountain West conference women's tennis match.
Marine Dans, Marie Klocker and Gaelle Rey will take to the Almaden Valley Athletic Club courts one final time for the Spartans (10-7, 1-2 MPSF) in a 12:00 p.m. match against the Aztecs (5-16, 0-3 MPSF) at the Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC).
Dans, a transfer from Long Island University, is in her second season at San Jose State. This season, she is primarily playing #3 singles and #2 doubles with Rey. Dans has 23 singles and doubles victories this season and 102 for her career.
Rey, a four-time All-Mountain West player and the conference's 2014 Co-Freshman of the Year, has 135 career wins. She ranks second on the San Jose State career list. Lately, she is playing in the #6-singles position.
Klocker, a six-time All-Mountain West player, is the career leader in women's tennis wins at San Jose State with 137. This season, she plays primarily at #2-singles and #1-doubles.
The three seniors will be recognized after the Spartans and Aztecs complete a maximum of three one-set doubles matches. In addition to the Senior Day festivities, San Jose State is hosting "members day" at AVAC. Pizza and soft drinks will be available during the Senior Day ceremony and cake after the match to AVAC club members.
The Spartans and the Aztecs are looking to end losing streaks. San Jose State was on the short end of two 4-3 losses since April 16. San Diego State comes into the match without a win in its last seven matches.
These two teams will head to Las Vegas next week for the conference championship, Thursday, April 27 through Sunday, April 30.
