Tucson, Ariz. --- The San José State University men's golf team improved by 12 strokes in round two of the Mountain West Championship. The Spartans shot a 289 in round two, and are tied for 11th. This earned the team a two-day score of 14-over par 590 on the par 72, 7,194-yard Catalina Course at OMNI Tucson National Resort.
Kevin Velo climbed 11 spots up the leaderboard to tie for 15th, and shot two-under par in round two. This was the best score the sophomore has carded at the Mountain West Championship. He has a two-day score of one-under par 143, and is two strokes behind a top-ten finish.
Scott Munger shot even par in round two and tied for 35th with a total score of 147.
Sean Talmadge had 12 pars in round two and finished his day one-over par. He is five-over par, and tied for 41st at 149.
Henrik Sohlberg is tied for 51st at 10-over par 154; Matthew Ashley is in 54th at 156.
Leading the Tournament is Colorado State at 13-under par 563. Boise State and UNLV are tied for second, two-strokes behind the Rams.
Brian Humphreys of Boise State has a one stroke advantage over second place John Oda of UNLV.
