Stanford, Calif.-Spartan pair Allison Meehan and Lyndi Scholl were victorious at Stanford Friday afternoon for the San José State beach volleyball team. The Spartans fell 4-1 in the dual.
Meehan and Scholl needed three sets to beat the Cardnial pair of Kathryn Plummer and Jenna Gray. The Spartan pair won the first set, 21-16, before falling 21-7. In the deciding set, Meehan and Scholl won 17-15 for their sixth win of the season.
The other four Spartan pairs fell in straight sets, most by similar set scores. Nandyala Gama and Julie Sam fell 21-16, 21-19, while Giulia Gávio and Luiza Andrade lost 21-19, 21-16. Julia Golbeck and Kaitlynn Zdroik fell 21-19, 21-17, while Summer Avery and Jamie Hirai lost 21-14, 21-2. In an exhibition, Breann Robinson and Ciara Reistad won 21-11, 21-6.
The Spartans play at California on Saturday at 1 p.m.
