Columbus, Ohio-- The San José State women's golf team shot a 304 in the second round and finished the day tied for 10th with Louisville at 614 at the NCAA Columbus Regional on The Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course. Franziska Friedrich and My Leander continue to lead the Spartans.

Beginning the day on hole #1, SJSU made 11 birdies during the round and are tied for third in total birdies made in the tournament at 20. The team will head into Wednesday's final round just seven shots behind sixth-place Purdue. The goal is to be one of the top-six teams after Wednesday's round to advance to the 2017 NCAA Championships in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Friedrich leads the team at eight-over 152, to tie for 28th. She shot the team's low score of the day with a 75. Friedrich played the front nine in three-over par, making six pars and three bogeys, and had a clean card over the back nine with nine pars.

Leander shot a four-over 76 in the second round and is tied for 33rd at nine-over 153. She made three birdies during her second round, going two-over the front nine and the back nine. Leander finished her round by going birdie-bogey-birdie on the last three holes.

Alexandra Cooper shot a 77 and is tied for 37th at 154. Her first nine holes of the day caused her a few problems, except for back-to-back birdies on #4 and #5. Cooper shot one-under over her last nine holes, with two birdies, one bogey and six pars.

Abegail Arevalo was three shots better in her second round as she ended the day with a four-over 76 and is tied for 46th at 155. Arevalo made two birdies during her round (#3, #13) and 11 pars.

Elizabeth Schultz shot a five-over 77 and has a two-round total of 161, good for a tie at 75th. She started the day by going bogey-birdie-par-birdie to be one-under par after four holes. For the rest of the round, Schultz made six bogeys and eight pars.

"Our lack of experience on this course is hurting us. We are making mistakes that are preventable but are making some birdies," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "Hopefully, we can eliminate the mistakes and go low tomorrow. We still have a chance."

Florida leads the field at +14, 590, followed closely by host Ohio State at 591. Florida State is third at 597, followed by South Carolina at 598, Michigan at 605 and Purdue at 607. Individually, Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M leads the field with a one-under 143.
