Chase Turner Competing For The Men's Softball World Championship

San Jose, Calif. - San José State softball assistant coach Chase Turner, an eight-year member of the USA Softball Men's National Team, will be representing the United States in two tournaments in July, the Vancouver Challenge (July 1 & 2) and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Men's World Softball Championship (July 7-16).

The USA Men's National Team will use the Vancouver Challenge in Vancouver, Canada to prepare for the WBSC Men's World Softball Championship.

On Saturday, July 1, in the Vancouver Challenge, the USA will play the Sooke Loggers at 9:00 a.m., CR Bartel Farms at 5:00 p.m. and Team Canada at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, they wrap up play against the Abbotsford Builders at 11:30 a.m. All games are Pacific Time and fans can follow the action through the live stats feature on the USA Softball web site or by clicking this link.

From July 7-16, Team USA is in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada to compete world championship. Seventeen teams from five continents will be divided into two pools and compete in a 64-game round robin, with the top four finishers from each pool advancing to the playoff bracket and the remaining teams competing in a consolation bracket.

Ranked No. 6 in the world, Team USA is in Pool A and opens play on July 7 against world #3 Argentina (7:30 p.m.). They then go on to play #5 Australia (3:00 p.m. on July 8), #4 Canada (5:30 p.m. on July 9), India (12:00 p.m. on July 10), #11 Dominican Republic (7:30 p.m. on July 11), Hong Kong (11:30 a.m. on July 12) and #14 South Africa (5:00 p.m. on July 13).

All games in the WBSC Men's World Softball Championship will have live stats and streaming video. Live stats will be available when play begins on the event's web site at http://www.2017mensworldsoftball.com/live-stats/.

The cost to view all games on streaming video, including playoffs, is $29.95. Games will be recorded and archived for on-demand viewing as well. Fans can subscribe to the service through worldsoftball.tv/
