After finishing her college career #2 on the San Jose State University list for most victories and graduating with high academic honors, Swiss native Gaelle Rey will represent her country at 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan.

The 29th World University Games take place August 19-30. More than 5,000 athletes from 120 countries are projected to compete in 22 sports. Tennis is scheduled for August 21 through 29 at the Taipei Tennis Center.

Rey won 139 singles and doubles matches in her four seasons as a Spartan and capped her career as a key member of San Jose State's 2017 Mountain West women's tennis championship team. The business management major graduated magna cum laude in May and was a three-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete award winner.

"I am so excited for Gaelle to be representing her home country of Switzerland at the World University Games. She ended her playing career at San Jose State on a high note and she will continue her success at these Games," said San Jose State women's tennis head coach Chad Skorupka.
