Honolulu, Hawaii----- San Jose State University offensive linemen Jeremiah Kolone and Keoni Taylor are two of 48 players named to the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year watch list.
Kolone, an offensive guard from Fallbrook (Calif.) High, is a two-time honorable mention All-Mountain West selection. He has 35 starts heading into his senior season including 29 consecutive games beginning in 2014.
Taylor, the Spartans' starting center from Garces Memorial High in Bakersfield, Calif., is a two-year starter with 24 career starts. He is one of the players listed on the Rimington Trophy watch list for the top center in college football.
The award is presented annually by the Polynesian College Football Hall of Fame to the country's most outstanding college football player of Polynesian descent that combines great playing ability and integrity. Co-Founder and award chairman Jesse Sapolu, a former long-time offensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers estimates more than 500 players of Polynesian ancestry are playing NCAA Division I football.
Five finalists will be announced on November 30 and the 2017 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year will be announced on December 14. The winner will be honored during the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Weekend on January 21, 2018 in Honolulu.
