2017 Men's Soccer Season Begins Friday Night Against Stanford

San Jose, Calif.--- The San José State University men's soccer team opens its 2017 regular season Friday August 25, at home against the Stanford Cardinal. The Spartans begin their season against the two time defending NCAA champion and preseason #1 ranked Cardinal at 5:00 p.m. (PT) on the Spartan Soccer Complex located corner of south 10th street and E Alma Ave.

The 2017 San José State men's soccer team has eight returning letterwinners from last year's squad. In the Spartan's two exhibition matches they tied CSU Monterey Bay, 1-1, and Santa Clara, 2-2.

Stanford's head coach, Jeremy Gunn, played for San José State's head coach Simon Tobin at CSU Bakersfield during the 1989-92 seasons. Gunn would later go on to serve as assistant under Simon Tobin at CSU Bakersfield.

In Stanford's two exhibition matches they beat Portland, 3-0, and Pacific, 1-0.
