Missoula, Mont. --- The San Jose State women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Eastern Washington University in the opening match of the Montana Cup.

"We worked really hard for this shutout and I'm proud," said Spartans' head coach Lauren Hanson. "They're a very fast-paced and direct team and for us to shut them out is a great result."

Jamilecxth Beccera scored her first goal as a Spartan seconds before the halftime horn to give the Spartans (1-2-0) a 1-0 lead. But she wasn't done, striking again in the 75th minute with a shot inside the upper right corner of the goal from 10 yards out.

Just 40 seconds of game time after Becerra's second tally, SJSU was on the board again. This time it was Dorthe Hoppius who collected a loose ball sent in by Kristen Amarikwa, and from six yards out the senior put it in the back of the net for her first goal of the year.

"It was great to see both Jamilecxth and Didi score," said Hanson. "This will give Jamie a really nice confidence boost. Then the entire play from Darriel (Franklin) to Kristen (Amarikwa) and then Didi finishes it off."

San Jose State took a season-high 17 shots, putting eight on frame. Eastern Washington (2-1-0) kept even in the shot column with 18 total and seven on target.
Spartan keeper Ana Calero was there for seven saves and recorded SJSU's first shutout of 2017.

San Jose State plays its final match of the Montana Cup against the host Grizzlies on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (MT).
