San Francisco, Calif.- Fernanda Vido recorded her secon double-double of the season as the San José State volleyball team won at San Francisco, 3-1, Saturday night.
Vido led all hitters with 24 kills and had 12 digs for her first collegiate double-double. She hit .259 on the night with 58 attempts and nine hitting errors. Vido added two block assists in the win.
Mariana Mantellato recorded her second consecutive double-double of the season with 36 assists and 10 digs. She also had two blocks and three kills.
Luiza Andrade le the team with 17 digs, followed by Giulia Gávio with 13, Vido at 12 and Mantellato with 10.
The Spartans recorded seven service aces, led by Jamie Hirai with four. Andrade added two, and Mantellato had one.
Nandyala Gama led the team with four blocks, while Thaliana Grajeda recorded three blocks. The Spartans won the blocking battle, 8-7.
After falling in the first set, San José State trailed 20-19 in set two and scored the final six points to win the set 25-20. In the third set, SJSU took a 9-8 lead and never looked back in the 25-19 win. The final set was similar, taking a 9-8 lead and winning 25-16.
San José State started the season undefeated for the second consecutive season. The Spartans travel to Southern California next weekend for the Fullerton Riverside Classic. The team plays at UC Riverside on Friday at 5 p.m., and at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday with matches against the Titans at 11 a.m., and Howard at 2 p.m.
