Spartans Unveil 2017-18 Women's Basketball Schedule

2017-18 San José State Women's Basketball Schedule

San Jose, Calif. - The San José State women's basketball head coach Jamie Craighead has announced her team's 2017-18 schedule, which includes six non-conference home games.

In addition to the six games in The Event Center, the Spartans will play at Santa Clara and two games in a Thanksgiving tournament at The University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., which means that they will only leave northern California twice before opening Mountain West play.

After an exhibition game on Walt McPherson Court against Stanislaus State (Nov. 5), San José State gets the season going at UCLA (Nov. 10). The Bruins reached the Sweet 16 of the 2017 NCAA Tournament and graduated just on player from a team that posted a 25-9 overall record.

After the UCLA trip, the team's regular season non-conference home games include CSU Bakersfield (Nov. 17), Portland State (Nov. 19), San Francisco (Dec. 1), Cal State Northridge (Dec. 7), Nebraska (Dec. 17) and Southern Oregon (Dec. 20).

The rest of the road portion of the non-conference schedule lays out with a the two-game tournament in Pacific (Nov. 24 & 25), a game at cross-town rival Santa Clara (Nov. 28) and at Oregon State (Dec. 20). Last year the Beavers were the top seed entering Pac-12 Tournament and reached the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

Eight days after wrapping up non-conference action, the Spartans open Mountain West Conference play hosting Utah State (Dec. 28).

The front half of the MW schedule has a pair of two-game road trips. After the home opener against Utah State, SJSU has back-to-back road games at Colorado State (Jan. 30) and UNLV (Jan. 3) and again go back-to-back at Air Force (Jan. 13) and Nevada (Jan. 17).

In addition to Utah State, the first half of the home schedule features New Mexico (Jan. 6), San Diego State (Jan. 10), Air Force (Jan. 14) and Colorado State (Jan. 25).

The second half of the conference's 18-game schedule includes home contests against UNLV (Jan. 31), Colorado State (Feb. 10), Wyoming (Feb. 17), Nevada (Feb. 24) and Air Force (Mar. 2).

In the Mountain West's unbalanced schedule, the Spartans will face, once each, Boise State (Jan. 24 at home) and Fresno State (Feb. 14 on the road) and all other member institutions twice.

The 2018 Mountain West Women's Basketball Championship will be will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev., March 5-9.
