Northridge, Calif.----- Jeremy Romero continued to find the back of the cage scoring San Jose State University's only goal in a 2-1 loss to CSUN (Cal State Northridge) in a non-conference men's soccer match.

Romero, a senior forward from Hercules, Calif., scored his fourth goal of the season in the 79th minute converting a shot into the goal area from teammate Max Allen for the final score of the match. Romero has accounted for the Spartans' last three goals over two games and has four of San Jose State's (2-3) six goals early in the season. Allen's assist was his third of the year.

The Spartans' bid for their first two-match winning streak of the season took a setback when Michael Flores of CSUN (4-2) scored on assists by Giovanni Aguilar and Jere Degraffenreidt in the seventh minute of the match. With a 1-0 lead, the Matadors added what proved to be the deciding goal by Emmanuel Usen, Jr., who also scored his fourth of the season, in the 68th minute.

San Jose State goalkeeper Alex Clewis was credited with three saves. CSUN goalkeeper Henrik Regitnik stopped four Spartan shots.

The Spartans complete their first road trip of the season Sunday, September 17, with a non-conference match at the University of the Pacific. Kick off is at 7:00 p.m.
