Final Stats

San Jose, Calif. ---- Gabriella Hurtado scored her second goal in as many matches and lifted the San Jose State women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Saint Mary's on Friday at the Spartan Soccer Complex.

Spartan senior Sabrina Miller sent a ball in from the top of the 18 on the right wing, and found Hurtado for the only goal of the match in the sixth minute. It is the second game-winning goal for Hurtado after she scored in SJSU's 1-0 win last week over Cal Poly.

The San Jose State (3-4-0) defense was challenged throughout the match by multiple through-ball attacks by Saint Mary's (3-5-0). However, the backline led by senior Myia Wilkes never gave way and Paige Simoneau made three saves on the way to a shutout.

It is the second shutout of the season for Simoneau and the third of the year for San Jose State.

The Spartans and Gaels finished even in total shots with eight apiece and both teams put three shots on goal.

San Jose State begins Mountain West play next week with a 2:00 p.m. (PT) start on Friday, September 22, against Utah State at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
