Colorado Springs, Colo.----- For making all three of his field goal tries including a career-high 51-yard attempt, San Jose State University placekicker Bryce Crawford is the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week.
Crawford, a junior from Frisco, Texas, converted tries from 24, 51 and 38 yards in the Spartans' 54-16 loss to non-conference opponent Utah, now ranked #23 in the latest Associated Press poll.
His 51-yarder was just his second try from 50 or more yards in his college career and far exceeded his previous best of 44 yards in 2016.
Crawford became just the tenth San Jose State placekicker to convert a field goal from 50 or more yards. The 51-yarder is the longest field goal by a Mountain West player this season and ties for the fifth longest field goal ever at San Jose State.
For the season, the Spartan kick scorer is 4-for-4 on field goal tries. He has a streak of 15 consecutive field goals made after kicking three field goals in a game for the fourth time at the major college level.
San Jose State hosts Utah State, Saturday, September 23, in a 4:30 p.m. conference opener for both teams. Facebook will provide a live telecast of the game. Tickets for the Mountain West opener are available by calling (408) 924-SJTX or by visiting sjsuspartans.com/tickets or ticketmaster.com.
