VOLLEYBALL HEADS TO SAN DIEGO, FRESNO THIS WEEK: The San José State volleyball team goes on the road again this week for two Mountain West matches. The Spartans play at San Diego State on Thursday evening and at Fresno State Saturday afternoon. Both matches will have live stats, with only the Fresno State match being broadcast on the Mountain West Network.

San José State begins the week with a 9-4 overall record and 1-1 mark in the Mountain West. The team started conference play with a 3-0 loss at Nevada last Tuesday, and needed five sets on Saturday to defeat Air Force 3-2. The Spartans are tied for fifth in the MW standings at 1-1 with New Mexico and Wyoming.

LIVE VIDEO: The San José State-Fresno State match will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network. There is no live video for the San José State-San Diego State match.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: The Aztecs enter Thursday night's match with a 6-9 overall record and 0-2 MW record. The team lost 3-1 at Utah State and 3-0 at Boise State last week. Head coach Deitre Collins-Parker is in her ninth season at the helm of the Aztec program. Deja Harris leads the team in kills with 159, 2.94 per set, and blocks with 60, 1.11 ps. Devyn Pritchard leads the Aztecs in digs with 210, 3.96 ps.

Head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell is in her 10th year at the school. Taylor Slover is the team leader in kills with 166, 3.19 ps, while Haile Watson has a team-best 61 blocks, 1.17 ps.

2,000 ASSIST COUNTDOWN: Setter Breann Robinson is on-track to be the next Spartan to reach a milestone statistically. She begins the week with 1,923 assists, just 77 shy of becoming the 12th setter in school history to record 2,000 assists at San José State. Robinson is currently 12th on the Spartan career assists list.

1,000 COUNTDOWN: Two Spartans are nearing the 1,000 career milestone while at San Jose State. Nandyala Gama begins the week with 923 kills, needing 77 to become the 14th player in school history to record 1,000 career kills.

Luiza Andrade currently has 933 career digs and needs 67 digs to become the eighth player in San José State history to record 1,000 career digs. Both lists can be found on page four.

GAMA BLOCKING UP THE CAREER LISTS: Nandyala Gama continues to climb up the San José State career blocking categories this past weekend. She moved up to seventh place on the career assists list with 283 block assists. She needs four to move into sixth and eight block assists for fifth place.

Gama also jumped two spots in the San José State career total blocks list last week. She is now seventh in total blocks with 323 and needs just one block for sixth place and 34 to reach fifth.

VIDO MAKING IMMEDIATE IMPACT: Redshirt sophomore transfer Fernanda Vido has made an immediate impact on the Spartan team after transferring from Eastern Washington. She currently leads the team with 177 kills, 3.47 ps, and is second on the team in digs with 113, 2.22 ps. In the 13 matches played this season, Vido has recorded double-doubles in five of them. She had a season-best 24 kills in the win at San Francisco.

ANDRADE DIGGIN' AND SERVIN' THE BALL: Spartan libero Luiza Andrade leads the team with 218 digs, 4.27 ps, and is Mountain West leader in service aces with 20, 0.39 per set. This season, she has recored 20+ digs in three matches - 25 at Drake, 24 versus Santa Clara and 23 against Kansas. Andrade has recorded four service aces against UC Riverside and Howard.

UP NEXT: The Spartans return home to play the first home MW matches of the season. The team hosts UNLV on Thursday, October 5, at 6 p.m., followed by New Mexico on Saturday, October 7, at 12 p.m.
