San Jose, Calif.----- The San Jose State University men's soccer team was defeated by Sacramento State, 2-0, in a non-conference men's soccer match at the Spartan Soccer Complex.
Webb Christian in the second minute and Jackson Trevor in the 46th minute scored the Hornet goals. Sacramento State (1-2-0) won for the first time this season. Trveor also assisted on Christian's goal when he put a cross towards the goal and Christian found the back of the net.
Alex Clewis made two saves in goal for the Spartans (1-2-0). James Del Curto recorded his first shutout of the season making three saves. San Jose State played the final 10 minutes of the match a man down.
"It was 2-0 very early in the match and our team is a bit young to make this type of comeback," said San Jose State University men's soccer head coach Simon Tobin. The Spartans have 16 newcomers on their 27-man squad.
The Spartans were outshot, 7-5. Max Allen accounted for four of the team's five shots. Suliman Khorami had the other. Three of Allen's shots were on goal.
San Jose State returns to action, Thursday, September 7, hosting Saint Mary's in a non-conference match beginning at 4:00 p.m.
