Oct. 10, 2017

For winning the 3-meter diving competition at the season-opening Chick-Fil-A Invitational women's swimming and diving meet in Fresno, Calif., San Jose State University senior Cari Reiswig was named the Mountain West Diver of the Week.

In a field of 12, Reiswig, from Galt, Calif., posted a winning score of 316.15, more than 25 points better than second-place finisher Serina Sedillo of Fresno State with a 290.80 score.

The Spartans' number-one diver also placed third among 17 divers in the 1-meter dive with a score of 269.05 at the season-opening meet hosted by Fresno State.

"Cari has done and continues to do an exemplary job in the pool, in the weight room, the classroom and this latest award for her is a validation of all her work, sacrifice and commitment and we're thrilled about her continued success," said San Jose State women's swimming and diving head coach Sage Hopkins.

Reiswig scores at the Chick-Fil-A invitational also were NCAA Zone Diving Championships qualifying marks. The zone championships are in March following the Mountain West Championships.

San Jose State returns to action October 20 & 21 at the Pepperdine Invitational in Malibu, Calif.
