Kevin Velo Tied for Eighth at The Visit Stockton Invitational

Stockton, Calif.--- The San José State University men's golf team tied for eighth place at Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational. The team shot one-under par 287 in round one on the Par 72, 7,082-yard Reserve at Spanos Park.

Kevin Velo is tied for eighth place shooting three-under par 69. This is the second time this season Velo has controlled a top-10 position heading into the second round of a tournament. The Junior has played 6 of his 10 rounds under par this season.

Scott Munger is tied in 17th shooting two-under par 70. Munger is averaging 73.28 strokes per round this season, his best average as a Spartan.

Sean Yu and Bryce Wortman are tied in 62nd at two-over par 74. Ben Campbell is tied for 95th at five-over par 77.

Leading the tournament at nine-under par 279 is Santa Clara. The Spartans trail Santa Clara by eight strokes.

On top of the players leaderboard is Filip Lundell of Grand Canyon University who shot seven-under par 65 in round one. Lundell has a three-stroke lead over second place.
