San Jose, Calif.-Three Spartans recorded double-digit kills and San José State hit .326 in a 3-0 win over Fresno State Thursday night inside Spartan Gym in a Mountain West match.
Nandyala Gama and Laura Parts each recorded 11 kills to lead all hitters. Fernanda Vido added 10 kills in the win. Thaliana Grajeda hit .615 for the match with 9 kills on 13 attempts and only one error.
Gama led the Spartan blocking attack with four, followed by Vido with three blocks. Jamie Hirai and Grajeda each contributed two blocks.
Breann Robinson had 36 assists and four digs, while Luiza Andrade led the team with 11 digs. Vido led the Spartan serving attack with three aces.
San Jose State took the lead from the first serve of set one and hit .467 in the 25-19 win. The team continued its hot hitting in the second set at .360 in winning 25-18. The Spartans hit only .189 in the final set with the 25-20 victory.
The Spartans are now 15-7 overall and 7-4 in the conference. San José State returns home this Saturday to face San Diego State. First serve is set for 2 p.m., inside Spartan Gym, located on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets. Admission is free for everyone.
