Los Angeles, Calif.--- The #11 San José State University men's water polo team (13-10, 1-2) was defeated 24-8 by #1 USC (21-1) at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Jacob Mercep scored four goals in the match. However, three goals from four different Trojans locked up the win against the Spartans.
San José State dug themselves a hole going down 12-4 by halftime. USC had 40 shots in the match, and were 3-for-5 on the power play.
Luka Cupic, Finn Pardon, Abraham Santana, Giacomo Lovatelli each scored a goal for the Spartans.
TJ Palmer had eight saves against USC.
Men's water polo returns home November 3 at 7:00 p.m. to face off against Golden Coast Conference opponent #7 Long Beach State at West Valley College.
