San Jose, Calif.--- The Golden Coast Conference honors Jacob Mercep, Luka Cupic, and TJ Palmer for their performances in the Golden Coast Conference this season.
In Jacob Mercep's first season as a Spartan, the true-freshman led the conference with 85 goals and 109 points. The two-time GCC Player of the Week led the conference in average goals per game with 3.40. The native of Dubrovnik, Croatia set a San José State record for most goals scored in a single season, and most goals scored in a single game with nine against #15 Cal Baptist.
Mercep earned Newcomer of the year, Second-Team GCC All-Conference, and GCC All-Freshman Team.
Luka Cupic also earned a spot on the GCC-All Freshman Team. This season, the freshman totaled 26 goals and three assists in the regular season. The native of Budva, Montenegro had 10 goals against GCC opponents in his first season.
TJ Palmer helped the Spartans to 11 of the 13 wins this season. He is the first Spartan goalkeeper to have double digit wins since the program returned in 2015. This season, the sophomore had 151 saves and 11 steals.
Palmer earned a spot on the All-GCC Honorable Mention team averaging 6.57 saves this season.
The Spartans enter the Golden Coast Conference tournament Friday at the Anteater Aquatics Complex at UC Irvine. The #11 Spartans will take on #10 Pepperdine at 7:30 p.m.
