San Jose, Calif.--- The #11 San José State University men's water polo team (13-13) will face #10 Pepperdine (17-12) in the first round of the 2017 Golden Coast Conference Championship on Friday, November 17 in Irvine, California at 7:30 p.m.
The last time the Spartans faced the Waves, Pepperdine edged out the Spartans 9-8 in Malibu, California. Jacob Mercep and Marko Asic, the two leading goal scorers in the GCC, were ejected from the match with four seconds left in the second period. The match featured four lead changes between the two teams.
TJ Palmer had his best save percentage of the season in the game at .591. He had 13 saves and a steal against Pepperdine.
If the Spartans succeed in defeating Pepperdine they will face #5 Pacific in the Semifinal round on Saturday, November 18 at 7:30 p.m. The Pacific Tigers are unbeaten in conference play this season.
