Series history: The Cowboys lead the series, 6-3. The Spartans have wins in the last two meetings including a 27-20 overtime triumph in Laramie in 2014. The overtime victory is one of three by the Spartans in program history.

The last time these teams played in San Jose, San Jose State overcame a 23-7 second-quarter deficit and went to win, 51-44, on October 26, 2013.

Wyoming's last win in the series was a 30-10 decision on September 20, 1997 in Laramie. The Cowboys are 4-1 in games played in San Jose.

Senior Day: The Wyoming game marks the final home game for 12 San Jose State football seniors. Nine of the 12 played all four of their playing seasons with the Spartans. Wide receivers Brandon Mitchell and David Martinez were members of the 2017 team. Cornerback Jermaine Kelly transferred from the University of Washington in 2015. Offensive linemen Jeremiah Kolone, Nate Velichko, Keoni Taylor, and Chris Gonzalez; defensive backs Andre Chachere and Maurice McKnight; defensive lineman Nico Aimonetti; linebacker William Ossai; and punter Michael Carrizosa comprise this year senior class that will be recognized before kickoff.

40 Starts: Offensive linemen Jeremiah Kolone and Nate Velichko and possibly safety Maurice McKnight will finish their San Jose State careers with 40 or more starting calls Velichko leads the team with 42. Kolone started 41 times before an injury ended his season. McKnight has 39 starts before the Wyoming game.

Post Thanksgiving: In the last six years, San Jose State is 4-2 in games played on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. In 2016, the Spartans won at Fresno State, 16-14. San Jose State's last post-Thanksgiving win at home was a 62-52 victory over Fresno State on November 29, 2013.

Four squared: Right guard Chris Gonzalez, linebackers William Ossai and Frank Ginda, and safety Maurice McKnight are the four Spartans to start in every game this season. Thirty-nine (39) players, not counting the special teams positions, have at least one starting game assignment this season.

Spartans in top-20 for fumble recoveries: Heading into the Wyoming game, San José State is tied for 15th nationally with 10 fumble recoveries. Western Michigan is the national leader with 16. The last time a Spartan defense recovered at least 10 opponent fumbles in a season was in 2012 when that team tied for second nationally with 17 fumbles recovered.

Second time in 2017 turnover margin neutral or positive: The Colorado State game is the second time this season San Jose State was neutral or had a positive turnover ratio. Against Colorado State, the Spartans recovered a fumble and threw a pass interception for a 0.00 turnover margin. San Jose State was +1 in turnover margin in the Cal Poly win. The Spartans' one turnover at Colorado State was a season low.
