An 8-2 UOP run in a little under two minutes to open the second quarter pushed the lead back to 13 points, 39-26. The Spartans then went on a three-pointer binge with their next four buckets all from beyond the arc. Fieme'a Hafoka got it going and Hallie Gennett made another between two from Benally. When Wilson sank a layup with four minutes to play before the half, San José State had trimmed the Tigers advantage to three points, 45-42.

The team's traded buckets for the next six minutes, with the Spartans trimming the lead to one point on three occasions. They finally took their first lead of the game on a Courtesy Clark layup with four seconds remaining and had an 80-78 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

When Cydni Lewis scored with 8:22 left, SJSU was up 84-80 and with 5:47 to go still had a 90-88 advantage. But down the stretch the Spartans offense stalled, making just 2-of-13, while UOP went 5-of-10 from the field and 7-of-10 from the line to close out the game with a 106-97 victory.

The Spartans shot season-bests from the floor, 45.2 percent (33-of-73), and from beyond the three-point line, 52.2 percent (12-of-23).
