Colorado Springs, Colo.----- San Jose State University football placekicker Bryce Crawford, who kicked two long field goals in the Spartans' 20-17 season-ending victory over the University of Wyoming, was named the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week.
Crawford, a junior from Frisco, Texas, converted field goals of 44 and 52 yards in the win. His 52-yarder closed out the first half scoring giving San Jose State a 13-7. Those three points proved to be the difference as the teams exchanged touchdowns late in the fourth quarter.
Crawford's 52-yarder pulled him even with Utah's Matt Gay as the two Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players to kick five field goals of 50 or more yards in 2017.
For the season, the Spartan kicker was 14-of-17 kicking field goals. His three misses are from 52, 51 and 55 yards. He is the San Jose State single-season and career record holder for most field goals of 50 or more yards with his 5-of-8 mark in 2017.
The award for the Wyoming win is his second conference weekly honor of the season. Crawford was honored after the September 16 game at Utah when he was 3-for-3 including his first field goal of 50-plus yards, a 51-yarder, in his career.
