Columbus, Ohio----- San Jose State University senior Brittany Heng finished 24th in the women's 50 freestyle on the second day of the U.S. Winter National Swimming Championships conducted by USA Swimming.

Heng, from Walnut Creek, Calif., posted a time of 23.05 in her morning race. She was the 22nd fastest qualifier in the 43-swimmer field and advanced to the C final. In her final, she was clocked in 23.77 to finish in 24th place.

"Britt had a tremendous swim in prelims this morning. Unfortunately, she missed the wall on her turn tonight in the finals," said San Jose State head coach Sage Hopkins.

"It's a noteworthy accomplishment for a swimmer to (make a) final at one's first national championships. The team and the staff are so proud of Britt."

Heng is one of three San Jose State swimmers competing at the U.S. Winter National Championships. Senior Colleen Humel, a senior from Chicopee, Mass., will swim in the 100 backstroke on Friday, December 1; Brenna Bushey, a junior from Littleton, Colo., is entered in the 100 butterfly on Saturday, December 2.
