San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State women's basketball team went down, 15-5, in the first five minutes of its game against the CSUN Matadors and never recovered in a 76-59 loss in The Event Center on Thursday night.

The Matators (3-6), who came in shooting 38.1 percent from the floor and 24.5 percent from the three-point line, hit 48.3 percent (28-of-58) and 46.6 percent (7-of-15), respectively, on Walt McPherson Court. But it all came crashing down in the second quarter. In the first 7:51 of the period, the Matadors out scored SJSU 18-to-4 and took a 41-25 lead into the half.

CSUN's hot shooting continued in the third period. They hit 52.9 percent from the floor, and with 29 second left led 64-35. The 29-point advantage was the largest of the game.

Outscoring the Matadors 21-to-9 in the fourth, when the game had already been decided, the Spartans made it look better on the scoreboard than it actually was.

After the first period, in which it shot 46 percent (6-of-13), SJSU went 14-of-49 (28.5 percent) from the field. The Spartans also suffered at the line making just 13 of their 30 attempts (43.3 percent).

SJSU was outrebounded 55-22, including 16-to-8 on the offensive glass. CSUN scored 17 points off its offensive boards to SJSU's five. And despite holding a 29-to-9 advantage in turnovers, San José State enjoyed just a seven-point differential in point off the Matadors' miscues, 19-to-12.

With a team high 11 points, freshman Danae Marquez had her second double figure scoring effort in a row. Alexis Harris had career-highs with eight points and five rebounds.
