Two San Jose State Men's Soccer Players Named Academic All-WAC

Jan. 11, 2018

Denver, Colo.----- Defender Jeff Dukes and midfielder Jonathan Partida of the San Jose State University men's soccer team were named to 2017 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) team for fall sports.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average, have at least one year at the nominating institution and participate in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.

Dukes, a sophomore from Vacaville, Calif., and Partida, a junior from Newark, Calif., were starting players on the Spartan team that reached the WAC Championship game against eventual conference champion Seattle University.

For Partida, a hospitality management major, it is his second Academic All-WAC award. The 2016 honoree had three assists in 2017.

Dukes was one of two Spartans to start in all 21 matches and led the team in minutes played. He now has started 35 consecutive matches, the longest streak for any current San Jose State player.
