Colorado Springs, Colo.----- For the third time this season, San Jose State University senior Cari Reiswig is the Mountain West Women's Diver of the Week.
Reiswig placed ninth in the 1-meter, 11th in the 3-meter and tied for 14th place in the platform at the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational, January 12-14 in Los Angeles. She was one of three conference divers to qualify for final round competition in two of the three events. More than 50 divers from Mountain West, Pac-12, Big West and Big Sky schools were entered in the meet.
Her 547.25 total in the 1-meter event was a career best when using the aggregate scoring of six preliminary round dives and six in the championship round. Reiswig's 565.00 score for the 3-meter board was a season high and just short of her career best in the aggregate scoring format.
"Cari epitomizes the term, `student-athlete.' She is one of the top divers on the West Coast and a tremendous student. It is great to see the recognition Cari is receiving for all of her diligent and focused work," said Sage Hopkins, San Jose State's swimming and diving head coach.
The resident of Galt, Calif., is the first Mountain West women's swimmer or diver to earn three weekly conference awards this season.
The Spartans are back in action Saturday, January 20, at UC Davis in a dual meet. First event is at Noon.
