San Jose, Calif. -- Tamara Culibrk, Sybille Gauvain, Jackie Wagner and Miyo Kobayashi won straight-sets singles matches leading San Jose State University to a 5-2 win over Academy of Art.
Jackie Wagner with her partner Laura Malsert at #3-doubles helped San Jose State to win all the doubles taking the 1-0 lead into the singles. They defeated Paula Alcantara and Monika Stanikova 7-6 (7-4)
"We got off to a very good start in doubles by winning all the three games. We played very strongly and aggressively in the today's match. Jackie clinched the match for us (with her win in singles)," said the San Jose State head coach Chad Skorupka.
San Jose State looks to make it two consecutive victories, Saturday, February 3, when it hosts CSUN in a non-conference match at the Spartan Tennis Complex. First serve is at 12:00 p.m. (PT).
