Portland, Ore.----- San Jose State University dominated its women's tennis match with the University of Puget Sound from start to finish in a 7-0 non-conference victory at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center on the University of Portland campus.
The Spartans (6-2) won their second dual match in a row. San Jose State lost just nine points in the 15 combined singles and doubles sets played.
"It was a solid match for us today after getting used to the lighting and the speed of these indoor courts," said Spartans head coach Chad Skorupka.
Senior Sybille Gauvain moved into sole possession of sixth place on the Spartans career win list with 118 teaming with freshman Savannah Sendar for a 6-1 victory at #1-doubles. Then, Gauvain added a singles triumph over Lisa Owen of Puget Sound, 6-0, 6-1 at #1-singles.
Freshman Jackie Wagner returned to the lineup. She teamed with Tamara Culibrk at #3-doubles for a 6-0 decision over Barclay Fagg and Claire Fitzgerald of Puget Sound (1-2). Wagner also topped Tresa Bild at #5-singles, 6-0, 6-0. Culibrk, Sendar, and Miyo Kobayashi joined Wagner as a 6-0, 6-0 singles winner.
San Jose State aims for its second three-match winning streak of the season when it concludes weekend play against the University of Portland, Sunday, February 25, starting at 8:30 a.m.
