San Jose State University Women's Tennis Seeks To Extend Winning Streak

Feb. 9, 2018

The San Jose State University women's tennis team takes a two-match winning streak on its first road trip of the season to the Fullerton Invite for a pair of weekend matches.

The Spartans (3-1) take on Grand Canyon (4-5) on Saturday, February 10, at 11:00 a.m. and host Fullerton State (4-1) on Sunday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. on the Titan Tennis Courts. Both are non-conference matches.

San Jose State opened the season at its brand new on-campus Spartan Tennis Complex on January 26 for the first of two weekends of true homecourt tennis. Most recently, the Spartans topped CSUN, 4-0, on February 3, and Academy of Art, 5-2, on February 2.

"We are looking forward to our first matches on the road for the 2018 dual match season. We are playing Grand Canyon, one of the top teams in the WAC (Western Athletic Conference) for the first time and Fullerton State whom we lost a close battle, 4-3, last spring," said San Jose State women's tennis head coach Chad Skorupka.

In dual match competition, Tamara Culibrk, playing #2-singles leads the Spartans with a 3-1 record. Savannah Sendar and Jackie Wagner each have 2-0 win-loss marks splitting the duties at #6-singles.

San Jose State's #1 doubles pair of senior Sybille Gauvain and junior Miyo Kobayashi are 3-0 prior to the Grand Canyon match.
