Los Angeles, Calif.- Spartan gymnast Taylor Chan scored a career-best 39.125 in the all-around to win her second all-around title of the season as the San José State women's gymnastics team scored a 194.850 in a meet at #3 UCLA Tuesday night. The Bruins won the meet with a 198.275 team score.
Chan placed the third on the floor with a 9.900 and scored a career-best 9.900 on vault. She added a 9.800 on beam and a 9.525 on bars.
Kaitlin Won scored a 38.875 in the all-around to place second. She led the team on bars with a 9.775, and added a 9.775 on beam, 9.675 on floor and 9.650 on floor.
The Spartans started the meet on bars with a 48.325. Won led the team with a 9.775, followed by Kaprece Nadonza at 9.750, Stephanie Relova 9.675, Ellie Pascoe-Long at 9.600, Taylor Chan at 9.525 and Madilyn Probst at 8.850.
Rotating to vault, San José State scored a 48.925, led by Chan's career-best 9.900. Nadonza and Pascoe-Long each had a 9.825, followed by Josalyn Ray at 9.725, Won at 9.650 and Chelsey Andrada at 9.600.
The Spartans moved to floor and scored a 48.850. For the third consecutive meet, Chan scored a 9.900 on floor to lead the Spartans. Ray and Pascoe-Long each had a 9.775, Kendal Watts with a 9.725 and Andrada and Won at 9.675.
In the final rotation, the team scored a 48.750 on beam, led by Andrada's 9.825. Chan and Relova each scored a 9.800, followed by Won at 9.775, Probst at 9.550 and Michelle Shalit at 9.225.
The Spartans look to defend their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship on Saturday, March 24, at the United States Air Force Academy beginning at 6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT.
