Dominic Urrutia Joins Athletics Advancement Team

San José State University graduate Dominic Urrutia has joined the Athletics Advancement team as the Athletics Donor Relations Officer, as announced by Josh Thiel, Deputy Athletics Director for Advancement at San José State.

In his new position, Urrutia will work closely with the Associate Athletics Director for Annual Giving on rebranding, rebuilding and revitalizing the Spartan Foundation Annual Fund and working closely volunteer leadership to provide support and direction. He also will work on cultivating and soliciting annual gifts for the athletics department.

Urrutia joins the advancement team after spending the past nine and a half years as a member of the San José State Athletics Media Relations staff. He worked for five years as a student assistant, two years as a graduate assistant and the past two and a half years as the Assistant Director. He was the primary contact for men's basketball for the past four seasons and also worked with Mountain West champion women's soccer team as well as the women's track and field team.

A San José State graduate, Urrutia received a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism in 2013 and a Master of Arts degree in sports management in 2015. He and his wife Danielle reside in San Mateo. The former Danielle Smyth is a 2013 San José State graduate and a former women's swimmer for the Spartans.
