San Francisco, Calif.----- San Jose State University's Sean Yu and Sean Talmadge each had six birdies leading to an under par score in their second round of The Goodwin men's golf tournament.
Yu turned in the low score of the day with a two-under 69 on the par 71, 7,143-yard TPC Harding Park golf course. The sophomore was on fire on the front nine with a four-under 32 and had an up-and-down back nine. The 69 is his fourth consecutive round this week at level par or better. His 140 total puts him in a tie for 13th place.
Talmadge bounced back from an opening round 78 with his 70. He was the hottest Spartan on the TPC Harding Park course at one-point with four birdies in a six-hole span. Talmadge is in 86th place with a 36-hole total of 148.
The Spartans also counted Kevin Velo's 73 and Ben Campbell's 79 in their team score of 290, the same team total as in round one. San Jose State's 580 is good for 17th place in a 26-team field and eight shots out of ninth place.
Oklahoma is the team leader at 548. Cal at 553 and Oregon at 558 are the top-three teams.
Norman Xiong of Oregon continued his red-hot play at The Goodwin and is the individual leader with a 12-under par 130 going into the final round. For the week, Xiong is 23-under par for five rounds.
The Spartans will tee off from the 1st hole starting at 8:25 a.m. GolfStat is providing live scoring.
