San Jose State University seniors Cari Reiswig and Kylie Fonseca and sophomore Natasha Sondeno are among the 60-plus entrants qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, March 5-7, on the Northern Arizona University campus.
Reiswig and Sondeno are scheduled to compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events. Fonseca is entered in the 1- and 3-meter springboard competition.
The Spartans open competition on the 1-meter board, Monday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. (MT). The 3-meter competition is the next day and platform diving is the final event on Wednesday, March 7.
For each event, the top 18 divers in the preliminary round competition advance to the final round. Preliminary round scores will carry over.
The top nine finishers with 12 dives in the 1 and 3-meter boards will advance to the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio, March 15-17. The top eight finishers with 10 dives in platform diving will move on to the NCAA Championships.
Reiswig, from Galt, Calif., is in her fourth NCAA Zone Championships. She has finals appearances in the 1-meter in 2016 when she was 16th and in 2017 when she was 17th, and in the 3-meter with a 14th place finish in 2016.
Fonseca, from nearby Gilbert, Ariz., returns for her second NCAA Zone Championships. She was 40th in the 1-meter and 41st in the 3-meter a year ago.
Sondeno, from Turlock, Calif., is going to the meet for the first time. At this year's Mountain West Championships, she was 18th in the 1-meter, 20th in the 3-meter, and 27th in platform diving.
