San Jose, Calif.- The San José State women's gymnastics team saved the best for the final home meet of the 2018 season, scoring a season-best 195.050 to win a quad meet Sunday afternoon at The Event Center over Central Michigan (194.625), Air Force (194.500) and Seattle Pacific (193.225).
Spartan Taylor Chan won two individual titles with a career-best 9.875 on vault and a season-best 9.900 on floor.
San José State started the meet on vault with a season-best 49.075, tying for the third-best vault score in school history. Chan led the team with a 9.875, followed by Kaprece Nadonza with a career-high 9.850, Ellie Pascoe-Long at 9.825, Kaitlin Won at 9.775, Josalyn Ray at 9.750 and Chelsey Andrada at 9.675.
Moving to bars, the Spartans rebounded from last week's meet with a 48.575. Pascoe-Long led the team with a career-best 9.800, followed by Nadonza at 9.775, Won at 9.725, Madilyn Probst at 9.675, Chan at 9.600 and Stephanie Relova at 9.000.
The beam team had to count a fall in the team's 48.250. Andrada and Relova each scored a 9.825, Won at 9.700, Michelle Shalit at 9.600, Chan at 9.300 and Ray at 9.025.
In the final rotation, the floor team scored a season-best 49.150, tying for the ninth-best floor score in school history. Chan recorded her 9.900 on floor this season. Pascoe-Long scored 9.875, followed by Won and Andrada at 9.800, Ray at 9.775 and Kendal Watts at 9.750.
In her final home meet as a Spartan, Won scored a 39.000 in the all-around to finish second. Chan added a 38.675 in the all-around to place third.
The Spartans next compete in Arizona on Friday, March 9, with a quad meet with the Wildcats, Air Force and North Carolina. The meet begins at 6:30 p.m. MT.
