Fairfax, Calif.-- Alexandra Cooper shot a three-under 69 in the final round of the Meadow Club Women's Collegiate and finished tied for 10th at one-over 145 Tuesday. San José State shot a 295 to finish in eighth place at +21 for the two-round tournament at the Meadow Club in Fairfax.
Cooper bounced back in the second round, making five birdies and 11 pars. She shot a 36 over her first nine holes of the day (10-18) and a 33 over the second nine holes where she did not a bogey.
Abegail Arevalo tied for 24th at 148 after shooting a 77 in the final round. She made 13 pars during the round including nine consecutive (holes 14-4) but did not card a birdie during the round.
Franziska Friedrich shot a 73 to tie for 41st at 152. She made three birdies over her final six holes and had 11 pars on the day.
Elizabeth Schultz tied for 52nd at 154, shooting a 78 on Tuesday. Schultz had 12 pars during the round but did not make a birdie. Ysabel Tran tied for 60th at 155, with a 76 in the second round. She had two birdies and 11 pars on the day.
Playing as individual, Judith Castro Roldan finished tied for 50th at 153 after shooting an 80 on Tuesday. Arielle Caronna shot a 90 and finished 88th at 177.
"I was really happy to see Alex had a nice round today, and it was nice to see Franziska bounce back with a solid round for us," said Spartan head coach John Dormann. "I am hoping for more consistent scores at our next tournament."
Washington won the team title with a three-under 573, while co-host San Francisco was second at seven-over 583. Individually, Brittany Fan of Colorado and Samantha Gong of San Francisco shared co-medalist honors at four-under 140. Fan had the low first round at 67, while Gong shot the low second-round score at 68.
The Spartans play next at the MountainView Intercollegiate, March 23-25, in Tucson, Ariz.
