Las Vegas, Nev. - A 19-3 run to end the first half and start the second turned a four-point game into 20 and the San José State men's basketball team's season came to an end in a 74-61 loss to the Wyoming Cowboys in the 2018 Mountain West Tournament.

Two Spartans accounted for 80 percent of the team's 61 total points. Jaycee Hillsman scored a career-high 24 points and Ryan Welage totaled 25.

The teams played an entertaining first half and after a Hillsman jumper the score was 34-30 Wyoming (20-12) with 2:19 to play before halftime, but that is when the SJSU went cold and the Cowboys heated up.

Over the next five and a half minutes the Spartans (4-26) went 0-for-6 from the floor, while the Wyoming was 7-for-10 and essentially ended the competitive part of the game.

Wyoming's Justin James led his team with 24 points on 9-for-9 shooting from floor including 3-for-3 from beyond the three-point line and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. He was one of four Cowboys in double figures in the game.

The teams put on an offensive display in the first 20 minutes with SJSU hitting 46 percent from the floor and Wyoming shooting 53 percent.

Hillsman and Welage were the only Spartans to score in the first half and another SJSU player didn't score until Caleb Simmons hit a pair of free throws with 16:12 left in the game.

The Spartans closed the game on a 7-0 run in the final 1:48 to make it 13-point margin at the final buzzer.

Wyoming advances in the tournament and will play the #3 seed New Mexico Lobos on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
