Las Vegas, Nev.-- Savannah Sendar's win at #6 singles was San José State University's only point in a 6-1 loss to UNLV at The Fertitta Tennis Center.
Sendar, a freshman from the Netherlands, improved her dual match record in singles to 11-1 defeating UNLV's Juliet Zhang in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
The Spartans (10-6) started well with Sendar teaming with Sybille Gauvain at #1-doubles defeating Aiwen Zhu and En-Pei Huang, 6-2.
However, UNLV (10-5) pulled out the remaining two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead going into singles. Anna Bogoslavets and Zhang won a 7-4 tiebreaker over San Jose State's Tamara Culibrk and Miyo Kobayashi for a 7-6 (7-4) win in the decisive doubles match.
"We had a great win at #1-doubles today. We had some great opportunities in singles, but came up short," said Spartans head coach Chad Skorupka.
San Jose State returns to action, Saturday, April 7, hosting UC Davis in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference match at the Spartan Tennis Complex.
