Azusa, Calif.----- In her first heptathlon of the 2018 outdoor season, junior Kolbi Sims surpassed the 5,000-point mark for the second time in her San Jose State University track and field career with a 5,017 point total at the Bryan Clay Invitational track and field meet on the Azusa Pacific University campus.
Sims just missed her career best of 5,045 points in the seven-event competition.
Her biggest point totals in this heptathlon were in the 100 meter hurdles (886 points) and 200 meter dash (850 points). She matched her season-best time of 14.67 in the 100 hurdles.
Out of 69 competitors in four sections, Sims finished 27th.
The Spartans continue their April 20 & 21 weekend action with the sprinters and jumpers at the Cardinal Classic hosted by Stanford, and several distance runners at the Mt. SAC Relays, in Walnut, Calif.
