Indianapolis, Ind.-San José State University women's golfer Abegail Arevalo has been selected to play as an individual at the 2018 NCAA San Francisco Regional May 7-9, at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
Arevalo led the Spartans this season with a 73.65 stroke average and recorded nine rounds under par. Arevalo won her first collegiate tournament at the MountainView Collegiate with a three-under 213, two shots better than the second-place finishers, and helped San José State to a second-place finish at the tournament. Her best round was a five-under 67 in the third round at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic where she finished second. Twice, she was honored by the Mountain West this season, as the September Golfer of the Month and in March as the Women's Golfer of the Week for her tournament win.
Arevalo is one of six individuals playing at the Regional along with 18 teams who qualified for the event. Six teams and the top-three individuals (not on an advancing team) will move on the national championships, May 18-23 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
