Clovis, Calif.----- Freshman Brittany Brown and sophomore Destiny Longmire each had a first and third place finish highlighting San Jose State University's day at the Bulldog Invitational track and field meet at Buchanan High.
Brown had the fastest 100-meter hurdle time among the 13 finishers in two heats. Her 13.47 clocking was run with a legal 1.6 miles per hour wind and broke the two-year old school record of 13.58 set by Makayla Webb in the 2016 Mountain West Championship.
Brown's busy day included a personal best 5.92 meters long jump, good for third place, and an 11.88 meters triple jump for sixth place.
"Brittany kind of stole the show. She had a huge `PR' in the 100 hurdles, had a `PR" in the long jump and finished third. We went 1-2-3 in the long jump, so that was great with Destiny (Longmire) winning," said San Jose State director of track and field Jeff Petrersmeyer.
Longmire was the long jump winner at 6.04 meters. She also came in third in the 100 meters at 11.85 becoming just the second San Jose State sprinter to go under 12.00 seconds in the 100.
"We also had more nice performances. Lovenie (Dantes) had a `PR" in the 200. Camilla had a `PR' in the 1,500. So, it was just a short, quick meet. Now, we're going to come back to San Jose and get geared up for the conference meet that will be here in two weeks."
The 2018 Mountain West Track and Field Championships, is May 9-12, at Buchanan High in Clovis.
