Complete 18-hole results

Santa Cruz, Calif.----- In a field with 10 top-50 nationally-ranked teams, San Jose State University is in 12th place at the 72nd annual Transamerica/WFG Western Intercollegiate men's golf tournament when second-round play was suspended due to darkness.

The Spartans were 20-over par with most players needing four to six holes to complete 36 holes on the par 70, 6,615 yard Pasatiempo Golf Course that absorbed 4.5 inches of overnight rainfall before the first ball was struck at 10:00 a.m. (PDT).

#20-North Carolina moved into the second-round lead at nine-under par. The Tar Heels, in their first appearance in the long history of the Western, were even par after the opening round and nine-under in round two.

#50-San Diego State is in second place three shots behind North Carolina at six-under. The Aztecs were the hottest team on the course in round two at 11-under par.

In the individual race, Arizona's George Cunningham and 2015 Western Intercollegiate champion Scottie Scheffler of Texas share the lead at seven-under par. Cal's Sebastian Crampton, Ben Griffin of North Carolina and Oregon's Norman Xiong, going for his third tournament win in a row and fifth on the season, are a shot back at six-under par.

Sophomore Bryce Wortman is the top San Jose State player on the leaderboard. Playing as an individual, Wortman opened with a two-under par 68 and was still one-under for the tournament in a 17th place tie. Sean Talmadge had the best first-round score for the six Spartans playing in the score-five team format at even par 70.
