Logan, Utah - After a frustrating 3-2 loss on Saturday in which the Spartans got only four hits, the San José State softball team's offense returned on Sunday. The Spartans banged out 10 hits and score seven times in a 7-5 victory over the Utah State Aggies.

As in the previous two games in the series, San José State (32-16, 16-7 MW)
got off to a fast start scoring two runs in the first.

Emma Entzminger (1-for-4, R) led off with a single though the right side. Brittany Abacherli followed her with a walk and a Cassidy Clark singled up the middle loaded the bases. Madison Aurin (2-for-2, R, RBI) then hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Entzminger.

Two batters later, with two outs, Desiree Reyes (1-for-4, RBI) singled to center which scored Abacherli, but Clark was caught trying to get to third base ending the inning with SJSU up 2-0.

The Aggies came right back in the bottom of the inning and scored a run on a hit and a pair of Spartans errors to make it 2-1.

In the second, Georgia Blair (2-for-3, R) walked to open the inning and Alexandra Luna reached when a ball she hit went right through the legs of the short stop, but couldn't do anything with it. It was one of six innings in which SJSU had runners on.

In the Aggies second, a leadoff single led to a run tying the game 2-2.

Blair led off the fourth with a single through the left side and then Luna (1-for-3, R, 2RBI, HR unloaded on a 3-2 pitch, which came down well beyond the left field fence to make it 4-2 Spartans. Later in the inning with two outs and a runner at second, Clark (2-for-4, RBI, 2B) lashed an RBI double to make it 5-2 Spartans.

Utah State's Kellie White came on in relief of Jordyn McCracken (3-6) who started and went 4.0 innings giving up five runs on seven hits. She walked four and struck out three in the loss.

In the fifth, the Spartans got a pair of two-out walks and Entzminger was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but SJSU couldn't capitalize.

Aurin, who tossed a complete game win to improver her record to 16-12, got the Aggies in the bottom of the inning on six pitches and in to top of the sixth Jacey Phipps made them pay. With one out and Aurin on first, Phipps (1-for-2, R, 2RBI, HR) took a 0-1 offering from White and deposited it over the right field fence. The two-run shot made the score 7-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Aggies (18-31, 7-14 MW) got a two-run triple and then scored the runner from third on a groundout for the final score of 7-5.

The Spartans will wrap up the regular season with a single game on Tuesday at Nevada. It is the final game of a three-game series which was postponed in the first weekend of April due to unplayable conditions on the Wolf Pack's field. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
