May 10, 2018
For the weekend ending May 12, senior Nicole Iloanya has her sights set on the Mountain West Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Clovis, Calif.
Iloanya (pronounced Ill-lawn-yah) is the Spartans' top performer in the triple jump this year with a mark of 12.68 meters which ranks 30th nationally as May 10. The Arlington, Texas resident could double up in the long jump, too, before the conference meet is over.
When she was home for the 2017 Christmas break, she was a staff volunteer for the Cotton Bowl football game in Irving, Texas, between Ohio State and USC.
There's a very bright future ahead for the 2018 San Jose State University Dean's Scholar and two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete, Academic All-Mountain West honoree, and Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar.
Check out what going with her in the latest episode of Behind The Shield.
