Arevalo Finishes T27th at NCAA San Francisco Regional

San Francisco, Calif.-San José State women's golfer Abegail Arevalo finished the 2017-18 season by shooting a one-over 73 in the final round of the NCAA San Francisco Regional and finished at two-over 218 to tie for 27th place.

Arevalo started Wednesday by making four consecutive pars before making a birdie on the par-four, 395-yard #5. She made two more pars, followed a birdie on#8, par-three, 180-yards, and a par on nine to finish the front nine at two-under 34.

Her final nine holes of the season were a little tougher for Arevalo as she shot a three-over 39. She recorded back-to-back bogeys on holes 10 and 11 before making her third birdie of the day on the par-five, 480-yard #12. After a par on #13, Arevalo made bogeys on #14 and #18 and three more pars to finish the tournament at two-over par.

Arevalo finished the tournament with 40 pars made, tying for the sixth-highest total made during the regional. Of the six individuals selected to play at the regional without a team, Arevalo was the highest placing. Ingrid Gutierrez of New Mexico and Alivia Brown of Washington State were four shots behind at 222.

Advancing as individuals to the NCAA Championship were Marthe Wold from California (T3. 71-70-69-210, -6), Hira Naveed from Pepperdine (T6. 72-67-72-211, -5) and Emma Broze from Oklahoma State (T8. 72-69-72-213, -3; won a playoff).
